Sony India Secures Exclusive UEFA Nations League And Euro 2020 Rights

Sony Pictures Network India (SPN), a subsidiary of Sony Corporation, has secured the exclusive rights to broadcast football’s inaugural UEFA Nations League and Euro 2020.

The deal, which covers TV and digital channels, comes after SPN acquired the rights for the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League.

The sports channels of SPN will broadcast the matches while live streaming will be available on the network’s OTT platform, SonyLIV.

The financial details of the agreement were not disclosed.

More than 500 million people across the subcontinent watched football during the 2017/18 season. And Sony’s Chief Revenue Officer, Rajesh Kaul, is looking to capitalise on the sport’s growing popularity in the region: “Our objective is to bring the best footballing action from around the world making the sports channels of SPN the premier destination for all sports fans. Be it national team or club football, we have acquired and retained rights to the best properties in the world. We are delighted to acquire the rights for the UEFA Nations League and UEFA Euro 2020.”

The UEFA Nations League gets underway this week.
