Speakers Confirmed for The Future of Media in Sport at Global Sports Symposium

April 30, 2014

In less than one month the Global Sports Symposium takes place at the Emirates Stadium, the home of Arsenal Football Club on the 15th May 2014, London. The Global Sports Symposium is an annual student-run conference that is considered one of the global sports industry’s premier events. The Symposium enables the industry’s leaders and executives to share invaluable knowledge with their peers and potential successors.

We are excited to announce all our confirmed speakers for one of our panels for The Global Sports Symposium, The Future of Media in Sport. The speakers in this panel include:

Moderator:
David Sternberg (Manchester United FC, Head of Media)

Panel Speakers:
• Charly Classen (ESPN (EMEA),VP & GM)
• Dan Markham (NBA, SVP Media Distribution & Emerging Markets)
• Dave Gibbs (Sky Sports, Director Digital Media)
• Matthew Baxter (Liverpool FC, Chief Media Officer)
• Stephen Nuttall (Sports You Tube EMEA, Senior Director)

With such an interesting line up, there will be a thought provoking conversation happening at the Emirates Stadium, London on the 15th May. But why is The Future or Media in Sport so vital to discuss? Recently, we observed BT disrupt the sports media market by offering packages to rival Sky, bringing the world of sport to more fans, and ultimately making the market more competitive. In addition, we’re seeing sports clubs and leagues finding new revenue streams by affiliating themselves with media companies through organic growth or partnerships. Technological innovation on mobile and Internet is making sport easier for fans to consume, expanding fan bases across geographies. Are the rising rights fees sustainable, or will the bubble burst? In what ways will business and clubs be able to work together to increase profitability from their athletes, and how will rapidly evolving audiences consume sport in the future?

To find all the answers to these questions, you need to guarantee yourself a seat at The Global Sports Symposium. The Global Sports Symposium is presented by the team behind the Ivy Sports Symposium, which for the past eight years has rotated among Ivy League campuses in the United States. Last year’s event at Harvard University was a success, attracting over 650 attendees and 100 speakers. This will be the first year that the Symposium is held outside of the United States, taking place at Emirates Stadium in London on May 15th, 2014.

The Global Sports Symposium is a great way to meet with future leaders and top level executives, all in one place. The Symposium has been a huge success in the US, with teams seeing huge benefits from attending in terms of career development and gaining unrivalled industry insights. Make sure you don’t miss out on this great event.
