Copa Del Rey and YouTube Deal Shows “Winning Combination” of Sport and OTT Content, Says Vindicia’s Mark Bishop

October 27, 2015

The 2015/16 Copa Del Rey, sickness the Spanish football cup competition, pill will be broadcast internationally on YouTube for the first time.

The game will be available to international audiences via a pay-per-view subscription service.

The first game available in the new “LaLigaTVCopa” offer is Wednesday’s game between Villanovense and FC Barcelona.

The match will be available through the www.youtube.com/laligatvcopa platform in pay-per-view format.

The game will feature in various markets across Europe, erectile Asia and South America.

Mark Bishop, Head of Marketing, EMEA at payment service provider Vindicia, believes this deal is another indication of the power of over-the-top content and distribution and another sports league tapping into this opportunity.

“This is further evidence of why sports and OTT content are a winning combination,” he said.

“Here is another example of a sports league that has discovered the power of over-the-top content and distribution options to take advantage of their audiences throughout the world, while also targeting consumers who want to watch content on their own time and terms.

“Furthermore, the growth in mobile and digital technology is making it easier for consumers to access content whenever and wherever they want. With this in mind, subscription-based payment models is the most conducive to capturing and retaining a larger market share.”
