Soundwave to Sponsor Australian Junior Surfing Titles

November 6, 2013

Australia’s premier music festival Soundwave has announced it will continue to sponsor the Australian Junior Surfing Titles, signing a new deal as naming rights sponsor.

The festival, which tours Australia’s capital cities in February and March next year, is backing Australia’s biggest junior surfing event for a second consecutive year.

More than 200 of Australia’s best junior surfers will be heading to Kiama in southern NSW for what is regarded as the pinnacle of junior surfing in Australia from 30th November-7th December.

Kiama, 1.5 hours south of Sydney, is famous for attracting powerful swell and four beaches will be available to make the most of the conditions including Werri Beach, Surf Beach, Jones’s Beach and Bombo Beach.

“The Australian Junior Surfing Titles is the platform that catapults our next generation of surfing talent onto the world stage and we are thrilled to be the presenting partner for the third year,” said Soundwave General Manager Chris O’Brien.

“Having attended the event every year we have been involved it’s exciting to see a new crop of kids every year striving to be the best they can be. It makes us incredibly proud knowing that we are playing a role in helping them reach for their goals.”

Surfing Australia CEO Andrew Stark said it was a massive boost for the event to have Soundwave continuing its support.

“We’re excited to have Soundwave backing the Australian Junior Titles for a third year,” Stark said.

“The event is the pinnacle of junior surfing in Australia and is steeped in tradition so to have a major music festival like Soundwave supporting the event is fantastic for the sport.”
