Sina Sports sign 2016 Paralympic partnership

Sina Sports and the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) have announced a strategic partnership for the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games which open in Brazil on Wednesday.

With Sina Sports becoming the “Online Partner of the International Paralympic Committee in China”, medstore the IPC aims to increase its digital presence in Asia ahead of Paralympic Games which will take place in the continent in 2018, 2020 and 2022.

The IPC will provide Sina Sports with videos and articles throughout the Games, as well as publish highlights on Sina Weibo. The IPC will also produce and deliver special interviews and content with Chinese athletes to Sina Sports.

Craig Spence, the IPC’s Director of Media and Communications, said: “With the next three Paralympic Games taking place in Asia after Rio, we felt now was the right time to grow our presence in Asia, and in particular China.

“China has a strong track record of excellence in Paralympic sport and with the Paralympic Winter Games taking place in Beijing in six years’ time, we hope this partnership helps to increase awareness of Para sport and leading athletes.”
