ShopRite Renew Title Sponsorship of LPGA Classic

March 13, 2014

The Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) and the Wakefern Food Corporation announced on Thursday that ShopRite has extended its sponsorship of the ShopRite LPGA Classic through 2016.

This year marks the 20th year ShopRite has been the title sponsor of the event held on the Bay Course at Stockton Seaview Hotel and Golf Club.

“Wakefern has been a wonderful partner of the LPGA over the past two decades and has consistently put on one of the premiere events on our schedule,” said LPGA Commissioner Michael Whan. “Our players love returning to the Jersey Shore each year and playing at such a first-class host club in Stockton Seaview Hotel and Golf Club. We look forward to celebrating the 20th anniversary of their partnership and many more years.”

“Wakefern has long been a proud supporter of the LPGA.  As we enter the twentieth year of our partnership, we look forward to the opportunity to serve our neighbors and communities who benefit from the charitable contributions raised at this event,” said Joseph Colalillo, chairman and CEO of Wakefern Food Corp., the marketing and distribution arm for ShopRite. “Together, ShopRite and the LPGA have given millions of dollars to help those in need, and I can’t think of a better reason to continue this tradition.”

This year’s ShopRite LPGA Classic will take place May 30-June 1. It will mark the 16th year at Seaview. Karrie Webb closed with a 3-under 68 last year to rally and beat Shanshan Feng, who stumbled to a 75 in the final round.
