Shell Renews Ducati MotoGP Sponsorship
August 30, 2013
Shell has announced that it has renewed its sponsorship of MotoGP team Ducati for a further three years until at least the end of 2016.
The extension means the two parties will continue to co-operate on marketing activities and the supply of Shell Advance motorcycle oil for the first-fill of Ducati road bikes at the Borgo Panigale factory. Also the Technical Partnership also enables collaboration on research and development, including the development of bespoke products for the MotoGP teams – the Ducati Team and the officially supported Pramac Racing Team.
Shell embarked on its Technical Partnership with Ducati in 1999 in the World Superbike Championship and then entered the MotoGP World Championship as a key technology partner of the Ducati MotoGP team.
Andrew Hepher, General Manager Marketing Consumer Brands and Product, Shell, said: “We are delighted to announce that Shell will continue the Technical Partnership with Ducati. The two brands share a successful history both on and off the track and it’s fantastic to be able to continue our relationship both in the development of products for road bikes and in the toughest motorcycle racing championship in the world – MotoGP.”
Claudio Domenicali, CEO, Ducati Motor Holding, added: “All our partners are important to the continued technical development of our products and work with us to pursue success on the track. Over the past 15 years, Shell, with Shell Advance motorcycle oils and Shell V-Power performance fuels, has been instrumental in helping us to achieve ever increasing on-track performance allied to exceptional reliability. We also know that using Shell Advance motorcycle oils as the first-fill in our road bikes ensures they are looked after in the best possible way. We’re all looking forward to the next chapter of our partnership.”
