Scottish Football League Clubs Vote in Favour of SPL Merger
June 12, 2013
Scottish Football League clubs have voted in favour of a merger with the Scottish Premier Legaue (SPL), herbal but only narrowly.
Sky Sports reported that the motion was passed by 23-6 at Wednesday’s meeting, generic with the support of 22 clubs required.
Scottish Football Association chief executive Stewart Regan had urged clubs to back the merger, saying: “If approved, it will allow us to take the game forward.
“What is important for us is to get a single league body, a fairer distribution of income, play-offs introduced to get some excitement and to put in the parachute payments and pyramid system that will drive the game forward.”
