Sauber F1 Team Renews Oerlikon Sponsorship Until 2015

October 23, 2012

The Sauber F1 Team and premium partner Oerlikon have agreed a contract extension to their sponsorship deal until 2015.

The Oerlikon logo will continue to appear on both sides of the upper engine cover of the new Sauber Formula One race car and on the team gear and equipment.

Team Principal Monisha Kaltenborn saod: “There is no need for me to emphasize that it is always a special pleasure for us to work together with a Swiss company. In Oerlikon’s case that is especially pertinent as we are talking about a technology enterprise with whom we share many things in common: cutting-edge technology, innovation and internationalism, yet at the same time ‘Swissness’ and a longstanding tradition as well. Our collaboration on special coatings for highly stressed components has been ongoing for several years. This is set to be further intensified and our technology partnership will be extended to embrace additional areas. The opening of the solar park was a further milestone in the partnership between the two companies.”

Michael Buscher, CEO of Oerlikon, added: “Time and again since the inception of our partnership with the Sauber F1 Team, new shared interests and projects at the highest technical level have arisen. We very much value the reliable cooperation we have with Sauber. The FIA Formula One World Championship not only has a global and high-frequency profile, thanks to its many races, but it also stands for extreme technical competence. Oerlikon products play an important role in the automotive sector, and being able to test our innovative technologies in the challenging environment of Formula One while at the same time nurturing our shared Swiss roots suits us perfectly.”
