Rugby Players’ Association Appoint New Official Personal Training Supplier
August 13, 2014
The Rugby Players’ Association (RPA) have appointed the Training Room as their Official Personal Training Supplier.
The vocational training provider, price which is the UK’s biggest provider of personal trainer qualifications, will now work closely with the RPA to deliver personal training courses to RPA members, which include some of Britain’s biggest sporting names.
The sponsorship deal has been designed to help RPA members qualify as professional personal trainers, equipping them with the expertise and skills needed to transition into life after rugby.
As part of the agreement, free Training Room courses will be offered to a select number of injured and retiring players through Restart – The RPA’s official charity.
Andrew Powell, COO at The Training Room, said: “People might assume that after years in professional sport, players can afford to retire comfortably. The reality is that many rugby pros need to enter a second career, and most look to do that in an area they know and love – fitness.
“The Training Room was established to help people begin a career in the fitness industry, and now, because of our partnership with the RPA, we’re able to offer that to Britain’s brightest rugby talent. Through our elite training, they’ll receive the knowledge, experience – and qualifications – to become successful personal trainers, and this programme will be invaluable as they make the inevitable move away from professional rugby.”
Nick Byrom, Commercial Director at the RPA, said: “We are thrilled to welcome The Training Room on board as an Official Supplier to The RPA. Their innovative and dynamic training model is perfectly suited to the needs of RPA members, providing flexible learning opportunities and helping players to prepare for life after rugby. We look forward to working closely with The Training Room.”
