May 20, 2013
Two-time major champion Rory McIlroy is leaving Horizon Sports Management in order to set up his own management group.
The new management group will reportedly be run by the world number two’s father, Gerry, and other friends and associates.
Horizon had negotiated McIlroy’s multi-million pound deal with Nike, as well as deals with Bose and Omega.
This would be McIlroy’s second change in management since October 2011, when he left International Sports Management to join the Dublin-based Horizon.
Graeme McDowell, a Ryder Cup team-mate who is also represented by Horizon, has said the spllit is “fairly amicable”.
