Rapiscan Systems

Partnership Began: 2011

Rapiscan Systems Limited UK is the official Security Equipment and Systems Supplier for London 2012.

Rapiscan Systems will provide over 2,000 vehicle screening, people screening and baggage and parcel inspection systems to London 2012 venues across the UK during the Games. The systems will be used for security and threat detection, helping safeguard athletes, visitors, employees and other workers at the Games.

Mr. Ajay Mehra, President of Rapsican Systems, Ltd commented: “Our security screening technology allows for both superior non-intrusive threat detection and extremely high throughput, so we will be able to not only improve security but also enhance visitor satisfaction.”

Rio Tinto

Partnership Began: 2011

Rio Tinto is theOfficial Mining and Metals Provider to London 2012.

Tinto, a world leader in finding, mining and processing the earth’s mineral resources, will provide the gold, silver and copper to produce 4,700 medals for the London 2012 Games.

London 2012 will be the second Games at which Rio Tinto has supplied the metals, having previously done so for the Salt Lake City Winter Olympic Games in 2002.

Technogym

Partnership Began: 2010

Technogym is the Official Fitness Equipment Supplier of London 2012.

Technogym will supply and install fitness equipment for athletes in the Athletes’ Village and other training venues.

The main gym facility will be located at the Athletes’ Village and will provide thousands of competing athletes with top of the range fitness equipment for their event preparation. Alongside the facility at the Athletes Village, Technogym will equip several gyms within the other competition and training venues by installing a total of over 750 pieces.

Technogym is also responsible for the design and layout of the facilities, as well providing staff and ongoing maintenance.

Thames Water

Partnership Began: 2011

Thames Water is the Official Water Utility Services Provider of the Games.

Thames Water are providing all water utility and waste water services at London 2012 venues, ensuring clean, reliable tap water and sanitation to the Games.

They have built the UK’s biggest-ever black water recyling plant on the edge of the Olympic Park. The facility will conserve water equivalent in volume to 83 Olympic-sized swimming pools per year, treated to drinking standards. It will also produce water from London sewage for non-drinking purposes, including the heating and cooling of the Olympic Park Energy Centre.

Ticketmaster

Partnership Began: 2009

Ticketmaster is the Official Ticketing Services Provider for London 2012.

They have provided the tickets for the games estimated to hit the region of 9 million. Ticketmaster worked with LOCOG on its ongoing ticketing strategy and planning before assisting in the set-up and running of the ticket sales process.

Westfield

Partnership Began: 2011

Westfield is the Official Shopping Centre Developer of London 2012.

The mega shopping mall opened on 13th September 2011. Westfield’s 1.9 million sq ft Stratford City centre is directly adjacent to the Olympic Park and it is estimated that three quarters of spectators will pass through it on their way into the Park at Games-time.

Westfield is home to the first ever Team GB and ParalympicsGB merchandise shop which will open later this month.

Michael Gutman, Managing Director for Westfield UK/Europe and New Markets, said: “We expect that Westfield Stratford City will enhance the whole Olympic experience in the period leading up to and during the Games as well as providing a unique boost to the legacy for many years beyond as well.”

Paralympic Games Only Sponsors

Tier One

Sainsbury’s

Partnership Began: 2010

Supermarket chain Sainsbury’s has utilised its network of over 850 stores to help promote the Paralympic Games in the run up to 2012 and will make Paralympic Games and ParalympicsGB merchandise available across the UK. As part of its commitment to LOCOG, Sainsbury’s will run a media campaign in 2012 to support the Paralympic Games and its colleagues will have the opportunity to be seconded to LOCOG.

Limited branding is permitted on the field of play at the Paralympic Games and Sainsbury’s will be one of two Partners to have a presence on athletes’ bibs, as well as in and around key venues at Games-time.

Tier Three

Otto Bock

Partnership Began: 2011

Otto Bock is the official Prosthetic, Orthotic and Wheelchair Technical Services Provider for the London 2012 Paralympic Games.

The company will provide athletes competing in the London 2012 Paralympic Games with immediate repairs for orthoses (devices that support the limbs), prosthetics (replacements for limbs) and wheelchairs.

During the Paralympic Games, Otto Bock will set up and manage repair centres at the Paralympic Village on the Olympic Park, at Weymouth and Portland Sailing Village and at Egham Rowing and Canoe Sprint Village. It will also create and manage smaller repair centres around other competition venues and mobile units at selected competition venues.
