Record Broadcast Figures Expected for USA Sevens in Las Vegas

February 8, 2013

Round five of the HSBC Seven World Series, the USA Sevens is expected to broadcast in more homes than ever before.

110 million households in the USA will tune in to 15.5 hours of live coverage through the host broadcaster NBC, the NBC Sports, NBC Network and NBC Universal channels.

USA Sevens Tournament Director, Dan Lyle, said: “The USA Sevens continues to grow year on year and we are delighted that rugby fans in so many countries will be watching the action in Las Vegas over the weekend.

“Our ticket pre-sales are up 20 per cent on last year so we’re expecting viewing records at the stadium and around the world.”

IRB Sevens Manager, Beth Coalter, said: “After all the drama and excitement of Wellington last weekend, I think everyone is looking forward to the action here in Vegas. We’ve had four different Cup winners at the first four rounds of the Series this season, and I don’t think many people would bet against another here in this toughest of seasons.”

Eighteen international broadcasters will show live footage in 99 countries, with an additional 18 broadcasters showing highlights of the IRB Sevens World.
