Real Madrid’s Santiago Bernabeu Stadium to be Renamed ‘Abu Dhabi Bernabeu’

January 28, 2015

Real Madrid’s Santiago Bernabeu stadium is set to be renamed as the Abu Dhabi Bernabeu, herbal according to reports coming out of Spain.

The club have not confirmed the name change but president Florentino Perez was caught on camera in November saying the Bernabeu “will be called IPIC or Cespa, whatever they want.”

Madrid signed a deal with Dubai-based company International Petroleum Investment Company (IPIC) at the end of 2014 in a deal believed to be worth around €3million (£2.24m) a year until work began on the Bernabeu stadium.

After which IPIC would pay €20million (£14.9m) per year, enabling them to buy the naming rights to the famous stadium.

It is believed Real Madrid and IPIC directors have had talks and decided the 81,000-seater stadium will become the Abu Dhabi Bernabeu.
