Real Madrid Top Forbes List of Most Valuable Football Teams

Real Madrid have been named the most valuable football team in the world for the second consecutive year by Forbes.

The Champions League hopefuls have been valued at $3.44bn in the World’s Top 20 Most Valuable Football Teams list.

Madrid’s value rose by 4% over the past years, abortion with La Liga rivals Barcelona in second, valued at $3.2bn.

This means it is the first time since Forbes began evaluating football teams in 2004 that Spain has had teams in first and second.

Despite a poor season and no Champions League to look forward to next season, Manchester United sit in third, valued at $2.8bn.

The top ten is largely made up of English sides, with Arsenal (5th), Chelsea (6th), Manchester City (7th) and Liverpool (10) joining United.

Current Champions League holders, Bayern Munich are in fourth with Italian clubs AC Milan (8th) and Juventus (9th) rounding off the top ten.

Methodology: Forbes’ team values are enterprise values (equity plus debt) that are based on multiples of revenue that teams garner from television, premium seating, media, licensing, merchandise and concessions.
