Real Madrid & Barcelona may exit La Liga: former Real chief

September 2, 2011

Former Real Madrid director general Jorge Valdano told Cadena Ser radio station that he expects Real Madrid and Barcelona to adandon Spain for some form of European league in the future because they have become too dominant for the Spanish League.

“In the future Madrid and Barcelona will be forced to look elsewhere for clubs that develop at the same speed. That will eventually move to a European league,” Valdano was quoted

“The gap between the big two and the rest is getting ever larger. If you look to the future you have the feeling that it will only get worse. Two teams which have the rest of the world as their market and the others only their local community.”

“There will come a time when that won’t be convenient for the two big clubs either.”
