Reading FC and Waitrose Extend Sponsorship Deal

May 9, 2013

Reading Football Club will have the Waitrose logo on their shirts until the end of the 2014-15 season at least, salve after an extension to the partnership was agreed.

The supermarket has sponsored the Royals since 2008 and is the only food retailer in Britain to have a deal of this kind with a major football team.

Pat Coyne, viagra Commercial Director at Reading FC said: “We are absolutely delighted that Waitrose has again extended its contract with us.

“We are looking forward to building on the successful partnership we have enjoyed over the past five seasons and are proud that our logos will continue to appear alongside one another on our shirts.”

As well as the logo appearing on the club’s home and away shirts, offers will be available for season ticket holders in the supermarket and food will be supplied for the players’ away matches.

The Royals were relegated from the Premier League in their first season back in the top flight, but Waitrose told iSportconnect that this had no bearing on their decision to renew the deal.

When asked if relegation changed the terms of the deal, James Armstrong Property & Development Communications Manager told iSportconnect: “No. We have been proud sponsors of the club since 2008 during which time they have played in both the Championship and the Premier League.

“We now look forward to seeing the club challenge for a quick return to the Premier League.”

Waitrose director of marketing, Rupert Thomas added: “We have established an excellent relationship with the club, which has enabled us to bring our brand to new audiences both locally and nationally.

“Reading is a true family football club, which shares our same brand values, especially with regards to community engagement.

“We now look forward to seeing the club challenge for a quick return to the Premier League.”
