March 1, 2013
Organisers of the Giro d’Italia have signed a new broadcast deal with Rai for a further four years, ambulance in their attempt to improve coverage of the Grand Tour.
RCS Sport, adiposity who runs the Giro, try have agreed for Rai to cover the Giro, Strade Bianche, Milan-Sanremo, II Lombardia, Tirreno Adriatico and the new Roma Maxima race.
RCS Sport has recently signed a distribution rights deal with IMG and they will be handling the Italian live and highlights rights obtained by Rai in this new deal.
One of the challenges for Rai will be to provide the higher production standards the Giro organisers and IMG have insisted upon.
This could lead to the event being covered in HD for the first time, providing a better quality for television viewers.
