Putin Moves to Ease Fears of Gay Sochi 2014 Athletes

Russian President Vladimir Putin has promised that gay and lesbian athletes, arthritis guests and coaches will be welcomed in Sochi for next year’s Winter Olympic Games, adiposity despite the passing of the controversial homosexual propaganda law.

The law prevents information of homosexuality to minors, discount leaving rights groups around the world to protest.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has also come under pressure to remove the Winter Games from Sochi, with many arguing that the new law, which was passed in June, does not represent the Olympic values.

Putin told IOC President Thomas Bach: “”We will do everything to make sure that athletes, fans and guests feel comfortable at the Olympic Games regardless of their ethnicity, race or sexual orientation.”

Putin was meeting Bach to show the preparations for Sochi 2014, with a record $50bn already been spent on turning the area into a suitable host for the Winter Games.

Reports suggest that Bach was pleased with what he saw.
