Puma Continues Links with Dortmund through Reus Extension
August 21, 2012
Puma have continued to renew their existing links with Borussia Dortmund by extending midfielder Marco Reus’s endorsement deal.
The German sportswear company recently extended their deal as supplier and sponsor for the Bundesliga champions and have now added Reus, medical 23, to a ‘long-term’ endorsement.
As a part of the deal the German international will endorse Puma’s ‘Power’ line of products, joining the likes of Cesc Fabregas as ambassador for the ‘Power Silo.’
Christian Voigt, Head of Global Sports Marketing at Puma said: “We are delighted to extend this partnership with Marco Reus.
“Marco has such talent, there is no doubt he is going to go far in his career, and he has the potential to become one of the most exciting players in the game.
“This is another step for us in continuing to strengthen our position in the global football market. He will also become a lead communication asset for BVB, with whom we are placing considerable marketing emphasis – this combination will bring a lot of value to the Puma brand.”
Reus himself added: “”The Puma Powercat boot gives me a lot of confidence to play at the level that I know I am capable, especially when striking a ball from distance.”
Reus was voted the German sports journalists’ player of the year in 2012 and has built a relationship with Puma since 2009 when he played for Borussia Monchengladbach.
