PSP Announced as Clipper Race Yacht Sponsor

August 15, 2013

Global logistics provider PSP has been announced as a yacht sponsor in the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race 13-14.

PSP, based in Hampshire, specialises in shipping boats around the world. The brand was already the Clipper Race Official Logistics Partner, and has now expanded their association with the event. PSP has previously handled logistics for the last two Clipper Races, and is also a logistics consultant for the America’s Cup.

The PSP Logistics yacht will be officially named at a ceremony at Endeavour Quay, Gosport, at 2pm tomorrow. It will then go on an 11 month round-the-world trip, departing from St Katherine Docks in London on 1 September.

To celebreate the 100th anniversary of the Panama Canal, the leg of the race from San Francisco to Panama will be know as the ‘PSP Logistics Challenge’. The winning team will receive the PSP Logistics trophy.

Frank Dixie, Managing Director of PSP, said: “We are vehemently passionate about the marine industry and the sport of sailing. We’ve admired the Clipper Race for years and relished every minute of being Official Logistics Partner. Now we’re even more involved in the race as a Team Sponsor, which is an amazing opportunity to build our profile on a global platform, while supporting something very important to us.

“Our sponsorship of the PSP Southampton Boat Show has helped us boost our marine division to account for 20 per cent of our turnover and we hope to build on that with the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race.

“It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity for the crew and we are hugely excited to be involved in it.”
