Premiership Rugby and Rugby Expo Partnership to Deliver Full Club Attendance at 2013 Event

October 4, 2013

Rugby Ventures has confirmed a new agreement with Premiership Rugby that will see the two organisations working in partnership at Rugby Expo 2013, ed with all Premiership clubs attending the two day conference and exhibition for the international rugby community.

As the event returns to Twickenham for a third consecutive year, medic the commercial management teams and community management teams of both Rugby Expo and Premiership Rugby will work closely with the goal of ensuring for the first time that all 12 Aviva Premiership Rugby clubs will be in attendance at Rugby Expo, alongside major support from the senior management of Premiership Rugby.

Having witnessed the growth of the event in the past few years, Premiership Rugby were determined to show their support for Rugby Expo, helping to further build on the success of the event which has grown significantly since it was first hosted at Twickenham in 2011; this year will be the fifth instalment of the world’s biggest rugby focused conference and exhibition.

On announcing the agreement, John Hockey, chairman of Rugby Ventures said, “to be able to confirm the partnership with Premiership Rugby shows the progress that the event has made in becoming the meeting place for the sport. The feedback we received from Premiership Rugby last year was very positive and to provide a platform for the clubs’ executives and senior management to meet, network and do business is a key purpose of the event.

“The opportunity the event provides clubs to also meet new suppliers, potential partner brands and sponsors will ensure the event delivers maximum value to Premiership Rugby, their partner clubs, but also to the wider audience attending Rugby Expo.”

On confirming the agreement, Dominic Hayes, commercial director for Premiership Rugby said, “I was at Rugby Expo last year and was impressed with the work put into the event to ensure the quality of the speakers, the debate and the overall attendees. It’s important for the sport that we have an event like Rugby Expo where clubs, rights holders, brands and suppliers can meet and discuss commercial opportunities, knowing that everyone involved in the sport at a senior level will be there.

“We look forward to working with the team at Rugby Expo to make the event a great success and we are sure the clubs will benefit in many ways from their attendance.”

Paul Morgan, communications director and a speaker at last year’s Rugby Expo said: “Having supported the event on day two last year, I found that the debate around the future of the grass roots game was honest and passionate and from people that care about the sport. Our clubs do excellent work in their local communities and with their local clubs, so ensuring the managers from the community departments of each club are part of this debate is key as professional clubs are a central pillar of the future development of the sport at a local level.”

Taking place at Twickenham on Wednesday 13 – Thursday 14 November, Rugby Expo 2013 will include a detailed conference programme comprising main stage plenary sessions, summits and workshops alongside a live exhibition showcasing the latest products and innovations in the sport.

Following the success of previous years, the two day event will switch its focus from the professional game on day one to grass roots rugby and development on day two.
