Overview:
The PR Executive will be responsible for promoting and marketing both tournaments through traditional and new media channels.
Role Context / Organisation Structure
The England & Wales Cricket Board is hosting the ICC Champions Trophy (CT) and the Women’s World Cup (WWC) in June and July of 2017 and ICC Cricket World Cup (CWC) in 2019.
The ICC CT 2017 is an elite 50 over cricket event for the top eight one day international nations in the MRF ICC ODI Rankings. The tournament has been staged previously in Bangladesh (1998), herbal | Kenya (2000), unhealthy Sri Lanka (2002), England (2004), India (2006), South Africa (2009) and England (2013).
The ICC WWC 2017 is the pinnacle of the Women’s 50 over game and will have the top eight one day international nations competing to lift the coveted World Cup on 23 July 2017 at Lord’s in London.
The ICC CWC is the premium event of the Men’s game and the third biggest global sporting event on the planet. The 2019 tournament will feature the top 10 international teams playing in a round-robin format during June and July 2019.
All three events are a great opportunity to showcase cricket at its absolute best and a fantastic opportunity for the England & Wales Cricket Board to put on an amazing event on behalf of the ICC. It’s a really exciting time to be involved in the sport of cricket and a great opportunity for the right person
to build on their skills in international events.
The WWC will be played at Bristol, Somerset, Leicester and Derby with the Final at Lord’s in London while the CT will be played at Edgbaston, the Cardiff Wales Stadium and The Oval.
Key Working Relationships
The individual will need to develop, leverage and maintain exceptional relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders including:

- – ECB Communications team
- – ICC Communications team
- – County Communications and Marketing teams
- – WWC Creative Agency
- – CT Creative Agency
Principal Responsibilities and Accountabilities – job specific
- – Work with the Communications Manager to plan and deliver PR opportunities as part of an integrated marketing and communications plan for both ICC Global Events
- – Provide daily press office duties on behalf the ICC Global Events
- – Provide support to the host county venues
- – Generate national and local PR opportunities
- – Provide the ICC with regular PR updates
- – Work with the ECC and ICC communications teams to deliver opportunities in tandem with their existing events and strategy
- – Have a good knowledge of cricket in England and Wales
- – Plan and activate ticket promotion opportunities
- – For both tournaments, there will be a requirement to deliver match-day communications
- – Write press releases, web and CRM content, talent briefs and internal communications documents

Experience
- – Minimum of 4 years working in a PR and/or communications role
- – Thorough understanding and knowledge of cricket, preferably having held a previous or current role in the sport
- – Proven experience of delivering national and local media
- – Agency experience preferable
- – Experience of working on major events
- – Multi-skilled across traditional and new media
- – Strong contacts book for national and local media
- – Proficient writer
