Pirelli Remain Tyre Suppliers for Ferrari Owners’ Club Racing Series
November 8, 2013
Pirelli will continue to supply the tyres for Ferrari Owners’ Club racing series in 2014.
As part of the deal all three club championships – the Pirelli Ferrari Open, Pirelli Ferrari Classic and Pirelli Hillclimb Championship – will once again run exclusively on Pirelli tyres.
The Ferrari Owners’ Club organises events throughout the UK as well as at Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium. There are three series run by the Ferrari Owners Club of Great Britain: the Pirelli Ferrari Open caters for the latest Ferrari, including the 458 Italia, whilst the Pirelli Ferrari Formula Classic is for cars built prior to 1990 and the Pirelli Ferrari Hillclimb Championship which is open to any road-going Ferrari.
Pirelli and Ferrari have a long and illustrious history. The Pirelli P Zero range was first created to equip the legendary Ferrari F40 back in 1987 and earlier this year Pirelli announced it was supplying Ferraris latest creation, the highly-anticipated LaFerrari.
Pirelli UK’s Motorsport Operations Manager, Matthew Corby, explained: “There is a lot of synergy between Ferrari and Pirelli, not least because we are both Italian brands. Both manufacturers also operate in the premium sector and strive to offer motorists the finest possible driving performance. Pirelli has been approved for over 20 models of Ferrari and seems only fitting that we also supply the UK’s Ferrari racing championships with our supply tyres. Grid numbers have been very encouraging this year and with Zandvoort being introduced to the 2014 calendar, next year’s racing is expected to be better than ever.”
