May 29, 2013
The Eredivisie in the Netherlands has appointed Opta as their official data partner for four years, allergy starting from the 2013-14 season.
Opta will produce live data and editorial content for the top-flight in Dutch football, which will be used for programming and live broadcast graphics, as well as magazine shows and an interactive TV show that will be used on mobile, tablet and game consoles.
The Eredivisie’s Jan De Vries said: “We wanted a partner who could fully integrate into our centralised broadcast production and across all our multimedia platforms.
“Throughout the tender process Opta demonstrated that they were market leaders in the sports data market and we look forward to their content and insight supporting our pay-TV channel.”
Karl Hogan, Opta’s European business development director, commented: “The Dutch market is a key geography for Opta as the consumption of detailed sports data is established and consumers value the insight that data brings to their match week.
“This is a unique opportunity for Opta to work with a progressive rights holder and to provide a fully integrated service across multiple platforms.”
Opta currently provide data for the Premier League and Football League in England, the Bundesliga and Major League Soccer (MLS).
