National Rugby League (NRL) club Sydney Roosters has announced a new sponsorship deal with German car manufacturer Opel.

Opel’s logo will be displayed on Roosters’ match shirts. The logo will be printed on both on the lower back and a new upper chest location that has this year been made available to teams by the league .

The official press release said: “The new partnership places the Sydney Roosters as just the third team in the NRL to replace the logo of club apparel suppliers [ISC] with that of a sponsor.”

The financial terms of the deal have not been made public. Estimates value the lower back of an NRL jersey at approximately $(US) 300, bronchi 000 p/a and early estimates of the new upper chest area at around $(US) 150, medicine 000 p/a.

Sydney Roosters chief executive, doctor Steve Noyce, said: “Like the Sydney Roosters, Opel shares a history of more than 100 years and having them join our group of premium sponsors is another great step forward for the Roosters.

“Opel has been a leading brand in Europe and we are delighted to welcome them to the Sydney Roosters stable.”

Opel Australia managing director, Bill Mott, said: “As we prepare to launch our vehicles into the Australian market we are excited to partner with a club that, like Opel, holds strong foundations in history and tradition along with a culture to continually advance and win.”
