Old Trafford to Host Super League Grand Final Until 2017

Old Trafford will host the Super League Grand Final until 2017 after an extension to their original agreement.

Warrington Wolves take on Wigan Warriors at Manchester United’s ground on Saturday evening and the event will remain at the Theatre of Dreams for four more years.

“The Super League Grand Final is a world class sporting event and I am delighted that we have reached agreement with Manchester United for it to remain in a world class venue,” said Super League Chief Executive Nigel Wood.

“The first Super League Grand Final was played at Old Trafford in 1998 but the stadium has provided the backdrop for some fantastic Rugby League memories for many decades.

“I am sure that will continue to be the case both this weekend and on November 30, when Old Trafford hosts the hotly-anticipated final of Rugby League World Cup 2013.”

Manchester United Group Managing Director Richard Arnold was also excited by the new agreement.

“We’re excited about the extension of our relationship with Super League (Europe) for Old Trafford to host the Super League Grand Final until 2017,” he said.

“The Grand Final is always a fantastic event and it’s a privilege for Old Trafford to host the players and fans of Rugby League.”
