Oakland Raiders Apply for Las Vegas Move

January 20, 2017

The Oakland Raiders NFL franchise has submitted an application to relocate to Las Vegas.

The NFL has announced that the motion will be reviewed within the month. The relocation of a franchise requires the support of three-quarters of the NFL’s 32 member franchises.

The franchise are committed to remaining in their current home until 2018, with Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf declaring, ‘Oakland welcomes the chance to show them and the NFL’s other owners why Oakland is the only home for the Raiders’.

The team have seen funding for a proposed new stadium in Las Vegas approved, with the project set to cost around $1.7bn.
