Nicolás Leoz Resigns from FIFA Executive Committee

Nicolás Leoz has resigned from his post as a member of the FIFA Executive Committee and as President of the Confederación Sudamericana de Fútbol (CONMEBOL) due to poor health.

FIFA accepted Leoz’s letter of resignation on Tuesday means that CONMEBOL will have to decide on his replacement immediately.

CONMEBOL will need a new representative on the FIFA Executive Committee for the remaining period of office.

Leoz became the President of CONMEBOL in 1986 and was re-elected in February 2006. For a sixth time.
