March 25, 2014

The National Football League (NFL) has secured two new extensions with partners Riddell and Bose.

Sports equipment partner Riddell will be the exclusive licensee for collectible helmets.

Riddell also secured promotional rights as part of the deal including the ability to use NFL marks on approved retail advertisements and marketing materials. The new five-year agreement extends Riddell’s relationship with the NFL into 2019.

“Riddell values its ongoing relationship with the NFL, and we are proud of our longstanding history as the helmet of choice for the majority of NFL players,” said Dan Arment, President of Riddell. “We remain steadfast in our pursuit of developing innovative products to meet the protective needs of NFL players and the broader football playing community. With this new agreement, we are confident that the conversation surrounding our work with the NFL will remain on player protection.”

Riddell’s relationship with the NFL began in 1989.

Bose Named Official Headphone

NFL’s new Bose partnership includes the American company being named the official headphone and headset of the NFL. They will also remain the Official Home Audio and Speaker Sponsor of the NFL.

Bose will design, engineer and manufacture new headsets for all NFL coaches to use in-game, enhancing sideline and booth communications in a variety of areas, including play-calling and instant replay.

“We are pleased to extend our relationship with Bose to evolve the sidelines and improve the game for our teams,” said Brian Rolapp, EVP of NFL Media. “Bose’s superior technology will enhance the audio and communication experience for our coaches, players and other personnel so they can deliver the best performances on-the-field to our fans in-stadium and at home.”

“The new Bose headset is being made for the demanding environment of the NFL sidelines, and that’s an ideal way for us to continue our relationship with the league,” said Bob Maresca, chairman and president of Bose. “We have over three decades of research behind every headset we make for the military, aviation and consumers. Now, our proprietary technologies will be used for the NFL’s critical in-game communication. We’re proud of our new headset’s performance, and we’re proud to be part of the game.”
