New York Cosmos Reveal Nike as Official Kit Supplier

The New York Cosmos have brushed off the emergence of another soccer team in the New York area, allergy to secure Nike as their official kit supplier for the 2013 North American Soccer League (NASL) fall season.

The sportwear giant has created a home and away kit that resembles the classic kit worn by legends Pelé, Franz Beckenbauer, Giorgio Chinaglia and Carlos Alberto during the 70s and 80s.

The news comes just days after the announcement Manchester City had helped create a new Major League Soccer (MLS) franchise in the form of New York City Football Club.

Cosmos COO Erik Stover said: “Nike is undoubtedly one of the top sports apparel companies in the world.

“We’re excited to enter into partnership with Nike and join their global soccer family. This is a significant step in our return to competitive soccer and we look forward to growing our long-term partnership.”

The Cosmos will play at Hofstra University’s Shuart Stadium on August 3 for the first time in nearly 30 years.
