NBC Will Offer Virtual Reality Olympics

NBC Olympics will provide the first Virtual Reality coverage of the Olympic Games in the USA this summer. Experiencing the Rio 2016 Games in VR will be possible exclusively for authenticated users of compatible Samsung Galaxy smartphones together with Samsung Gear VR via the NBC Sports app.

NBC Olympic will make available all 85 hours of the VR programming captured in Rio by Olympic Broadcasting Services.

Overall, pills NBCUniversal will make available more of the Summer Olympics than ever before.

With Rio only one hour ahead of New York time, the group will show 6,755 hours of programming from the Rio Games– up from 5,535 hours for London 2012.

The last time the Summer Games took place in a US-friendly time zone was in the days before digital, back in 1996 in Atlanta, when NBC showed all of 171 total hours.

This time, NBCU will carry 2,084 hours of linear programming on 11 different television channels, while NBCOlympics.com and the NBC Sports app will live stream 4,500 total hours via TV Everywhere.
