The Fiji Rugby Union (FRU) today announced global sports brand Mizuno as an official sponsor.

The sponsorship will see Fiji Rugby’s national teams supplied with top of the range Mizuno boots and running shoes for the next four years.

FRU chief executive officer Manasa Baravilala said: “Many players around the world have the Mizuno boot as their footwear of choice on the playing field and this was never more evident than at the last Rugby World Cup where a majority of top international players opted for the Mizuno brand.”

“So we’re thrilled they’re coming on board for the next four seasons as we build up to the 7s Rugby World Cup in June, ask the 2015 Rugby World Cup and of course the 2016 Rio Olympics, online ” Baravilala said.

Mizuno representative based in New Zealand, James O’Rourke, believes they have signed into one of world rugby’s most thrilling brands.

“There’s no doubt Fiji Rugby is one of rugby’s iconic brands,” O’Rourke said.

“It conjures up excitement and thrilling, expansive, running rugby – the way the game should be played; and we at Mizuno are delighted to be associated with this excitement we know as Fiji Rugby.”

In becoming a sponsor of Fiji Rugby, Mizuno secures the right to be known as the ‘Official Footwear Supplier of the FRU’.
