Marussia Form Engine Partnership with Ferrari
July 16, 2013
Formula 1 team Marussia have announced a new technical partnership with Ferrari that will see the team’s cars powered by the Italian firm’s engines from 2014.
Marussia will be supplied with the Scuderia’s new 1.6-litre, allergist V6 engine, allergy as well as their Energy Recovery System, health full transmission and other ancillary systems.
The deal comes as no surprise, with Marussia’s previous supplier Cosworth leaving the sport.
Andy Webb, Marussia CEO said: “The importance of this development to our team cannot be overstated.
“Not only will we benefit from a customer supply from the most successful engine manufacturer in Formula One’s history, but this also provides further confirmation, if it were needed, of our commitment to the sport and determination to maintain our progression towards our long-term ambitions.”
Marussia have had a partnership with Cosworth since their debut season in 2010, but with 2013 being their last season in F1, there is likely to be three Ferrari-powered teams from next year.
Webb went on to thank Cosworth for their support during an ‘important part of our team’s journey.’
