Formula 1 is the world’s most prestigious motor racing competition, as well as the world’s most popular annual sporting series. F1 races are broadcast to over 430 million unique television viewers in approximately 200 countries around the world and its largest events can host live audiences in excess of 400,000 across the race weekend. After successfully completing a record-setting Championship in 2022, 23 Events are scheduled to take place in 2023 in 21 countries across Europe, the Asia Pacific, the Middle East and North and South America.

The Formula One Group is a group of companies responsible for the growth of the sport & exploitation of the sport’s commercial rights, deriving its core revenues from Race Promotion fees, Media Rights revenue and Commercial Partnerships as well as a number of other ancillary activities. Formula One’s in-house technical team delivers timing and other technical services associated with the Championship events, as well as the filming and programme origination of the international world broadcast feed.

Position Summary

Formula 1 are seeking a Strategy Associate in the Strategy and Business Development team, helping to define and deliver the long-term strategy and vision for Formula 1. This will involve working closely with the Formula 1 leadership, senior members of its commercial and technical divisions, finance teams and other key support functions.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

As a Strategy Associate your role will be to support the Strategy and Business Development team across four main areas of activity:

Support in the definition of a long-term vision and strategy for Formula 1

  • Help to set an ambitious growth strategy & define focal points for the business
  • Evaluate macro trends impacting F1 & refine medium/long-term strategies
  • Help to define headline Goals/KPIs that are ‘north stars’ for F1
  • Assist in evaluating performance against 1,3,5 year plans

Support the annual Strategic Planning and Budgeting process

  • Support with development of presentations and additional materials for key strategy outputs, as well as half yearly strategy reviews
  • Assist members of the Strategy & Business Development team to work with Directors and define project roadmaps that deliver against F1’s Strategic Plan
  • Support quantification & prioritisation of plans to align with budget process
  • Roll-up and review of strategic initiatives vs benchmarks and top-down targets

Operate as strategic support to key business areas

  • Provide ad-hoc strategic support to key business areas as needed
  • Help to set department-level strategies aligned to the F1 Corporate Strategy
  • Provide insights that support the identification and evaluation of opportunities

Support and lead on key Corporate Strategy projects

  • Assist Strategy & Business Development team on larger strategic projects spanning multiple business areas, with primary focus on market research, data analysis and modelling among other tasks
  • Lead smaller strategic projects for individual business areas, with oversight from other members of the Strategy & Business Development

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree minimum

Experience

Attributes that may be advantageous to an applicant would be:

  • 2+ years’ experience at a top tier strategy consultancy or in-house strategy at a major corporate

Partner Manager – Alpine Formula 1

We are looking for an experienced Partner Manager to build and drive the relationship with a strategic and technical partner. This is a key role in helping the Marketing Team deliver contractual entitlements, while constantly assessing their effectiveness in reaching partner KPIs.

Partner Manager – The role

The successful candidate will work closely with the Head of Partner Management to evaluate programme KPIs, define a strategy to achieve them and consolidate the relationship with a key team partner. This is a key role in helping the Marketing Team deliver contractual entitlements, while constantly assessing their effectiveness in reaching partner KPIs. You will be working in a tight-knit marketing team based across the UK and France with diverse skills and competencies and liaise with the wider Alpine Business Unit.

Partner Manager – The person

To be successful in this position you will have:

  • Multi-year experience in sport sponsorship or marketing activation
  • Understanding of the automotive industry (including new trends, connected cars, future of mobility, etc.)

Project Manager, Marketing – Formula 1

Planning and Tracking

· Orchestrate planning process across all Marketing areas

· Create and align marketing teams with integrated planning platform, document structures, and tracking

· The job will be based at SJM, with occasional attendance in Biggin and at track and F1 Events

Relationship Manager – Formula 1

Race Promotion is a key pillar of the Company’s business, including the live platform from which fans can experience the thrill and entertainment of Formula 1. The Company has longstanding relationships with a diverse range of Race Promoters and host cities across the globe and is looking to build on these key external partnerships to drive revenues and build fan engagement.

The Relationship Manager will have the responsibility for the planning, activation and delivery of a Promoter’s rights and will be the conduit between the Promoter and Formula 1’s internal teams. Your role will include delivering high quality relationship management and nurturing knowledge of your clients to make sure that Formula 1 continues to deliver world class events.

The role will involve working alongside other F1 departments to drive innovative thinking around exploiting commercial opportunities for race events.

Responsibilities

  • Managing assigned account relationships by being key point of contact for Promoters and internal F1 departments, maximising opportunity and ensuring the successful delivery of each event.
  • Proactive communication with Promoters and F1 internal teams through regular calls, status updates and face to face meetings.
  • Operating across departments, including Commercial Development, Event Delivery and Events Teams to implement new initiatives and support the delivery of local sponsorship activations.
  • Working with each Promoter to problem solve and find creative solutions to any challenges.
  • Identify underutilized assets at each Circuit to drive revenue and enhance the fan experience, working closely with the commercial department to create and fund each idea and proposal.
  • Leads on ensuring all the business reports/evaluates the race/promoter performance as part of ongoing year on year race development.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of local market and trends and be able to process full evaluation of Promoter territories.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for generating new sponsorship revenue for Formula 1
  • Manage sales process from conception to close; generating new leads, initiating first meetings, developing proposals/term sheets, contracting and ultimately closing
  • Directly responsible for clients and/or specific region as determined by the Head of New Partnerships

Press Office Manager – Formula 1

Formula 1 is the fastest growing sport in the world, attracting millions of new fans every year. As we continue our growth globally, we are looking for a Press Office Manager to join our growing communications team to implement our strategy across the motorsport, corporate, sustainability and consumer media. 

Relevant experience

  • Experience of working in an agency or within in-house communications team in a fast paced 24-hour news cycle organisation.
  • A proven track record of working proactively to devise and deliver a wide range of media coverage across print, broadcast and online media
  • Experiences of working closely with both written media and broadcasters; briefing journalists both on and off the record
  • Experience of advising senior leaders on media appearances
  • Work in a motorsport or sporting organisation desirable but not essential

Core role

  • Supporting the Communications team in devising and delivering successful communications outcomes for F1 and the wider sport

  • Draft, proof and issue communications materials including press releases, daily media report, media briefings, journalist information packs and content for F1’s corporate social channels and website.

Head of Race and Market Development – Formula 1

Race Promotion is a key pillar of Formula 1’s business, contracting and delivering the live platform where fans can experience the thrill and entertainment of the sport. The Race Promotion Team works with Promoters of existing races as well as negotiating the inclusion of new races on the Championship calendar, in line with Formula 1’s strategic commercial objectives.

This role leads, develops and manages a strategically selected group of race promoters within the F1 eco-system with the goal of a continued evolution of the market and the commercial opportunity with each promoter, race, and the market destination the race takes place within.

This position is responsible for developing the commercial opportunities within these markets and ensuring continued excellence by both the promoter and F1 in the delivery of the annual race. 

The Head of Race Development supports all business effort of a portfolio of promoter markets. He/she will assist promoters/markets in applying best practices learned from other promoters, sports, events, and industries. This includes development and implementation of best practices in the areas of: marketing, ticketing, digital, event operations, H&S, security, M&TC, partnerships, broadcast & production.

Each race/market within your portfolio will require a different approach and you will work with the senior leadership, subject matter experts, and other stakeholders across F1 to bring those insights, learnings, and solutions to race/market.

This role requires a strong business development acumen, a laser focus on driving efficiency and productivity, and commercial opportunities while demonstrating a deep analytical skillset. Content Manager – Williams Racing

Williams’ core competencies are the design and development of racing cars to compete in the Formula One World Championship. As one of the world’s leading Formula One teams, the company has secured 16 FIA Formula One World Championship titles since its foundation in 1977 and is now moving into an exciting era under new ownership defined by relentless innovation and living sustainable performance in every dimension.

We are currently seeking an ambitious and driven Content Manager to join our Marketing team. The overlying responsibility of the Content Manager is to be responsible for planning, development and implementation of both online and offline content for the team. This includes leading on the creation, management, oversight and delivery of high-quality, compelling and engaging proactive communications and marketing content via traditional and digital channels.

The Content Manager will oversee the content team, including in-house videographer, Junior Content Manager, along with external photography and videography agency resource. They will work with the Senior Marketing & Communications Manager to define and refine the wider content strategy that fits into the objectives of the Marketing, Commercial, and Communications departments.

The Role

As Content Manager your key responsibilities will be:

  • To manage the day-to-day relationship with the team’s contracted production company, including project management of all video content production.
  • To drive production and management of video and photo-led content.
  • To meet content objectives and measure performance against these.
  • To collaborate with Marketing, Communications, and Commercial teams to plan and develop engaging content to increase value and meet business and brand objectives.
  • To maintain and develop a year-round content calendar to implement the content strategy, in conjunction with the Senior Marketing & Communications Manager, to align with the wider marketing strategy.
  • To manage the wider content team including in-house and external resource.
  • Travel and event attendance will be required in line with the role.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record working within a similar role in a fast-paced environment for a high-profile organisation. They will have excellent spoken and written English and may also have a second language. Executive, CRM – McLaren Racing

Support the management of McLaren’s fan marketing programme, including the Marketing Cloud platform, McLaren Plus community and all associated campaigns. The role will be integral in shaping and producing the content across all email and mobile communications for McLaren’s database and fan loyalty programme.Working closely with Social Media, Creative and Brand teams, you will focus on creating game-changing fan engagement campaigns that drive website traffic, brand engagement and conversions in line with specific campaign goals. 

Role Dimensions:  The role entails unsocial hours and some work on weekends will be required. 

Principal Accountabilities   :McLaren Plus growth, retention & communications (65%) 

  • Create and manage effective fan communications strategies for the different audience groups across email and mobile, plan and execute the day-to-day email campaigns and ensure all CRM activity is executed/scheduled on time (design, build, send). 
  • Apply email marketing best practices across all areas and always thinking and searching for innovative new ideas to improve processes, emails and communications through the email channel

  • Establish an internal communications strategy, including specific timelines, in conjunction with the director of communications and Head of Communications and the wider company – including HR
  • Lead in the collation and drafting of key documents that are of significant importance to colleagues – including gender pay gap reports, ESG activities and major announcements
  • Handle the internal communication response to crisis situations which affect organisational perception and reputation alongside the Director of Comms and Crisis Chair
  • Advise senior executives of developments throughout the organisation, either face to face or through regular written communication

About You

Possessing excellent writing, editing and proof-reading skills, you will be comfortable in using all available communications tools, both digitally and offline. 

You have:

  • Experience within a communications team, in an internal communications role, for a large and fast paced organisation
  • Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills
  • Good interpersonal and relationship-building skills
