Manchester City Matches to Air on YES Network

August 23, 2013

Manchester City football matches will be broadcast on the Yankees Entertainment and Sports (YES) Network after a multi-year agreement was agreed.

YES is a New York City-based cable television channel that broadcasts a variety of sports events with an emphasis on New York Yankees baseball games – the team that City joined forces with to create the MLS franchise, New York City Football Club.

The deal started when YES aired Manchester City’s 4-0 rout of Newcastle United on August 22, which was City’s first game of the 2013-14 Premier League season.

YES will also televise the CityLife and Inside City magazine shows, which gives fans of the Citizens behind-the-scenes insights in to the club and the players.

John Filippelli, President, Production and Programming, YES Network said: “It is not hyperbole to state that Manchester City is a true powerhouse in the world of professional soccer.

“It is an honour and privilege to add this elite package to our Emmy Award- winning programming lineup.”

Tom Glick, Chief Commercial & Operating Officer for Manchester City Football Club, added: “We are delighted to be working with the YES Network to expand our coverage in the U.S. and bring our fans closer to the club they love. Manchester City’s U.S. fan base has grown tremendously over the past few years, fueled by the rising popularity of the Premier League, the most-watched soccer league in the world.

“YES’ strength in the New York area, where Manchester City have found a second home with the recent establishment of New York City F.C., in partnership with the New York Yankees, fits perfectly with our desire to serve the New York Metropolitan Area’s fans.”

YES National, the network’s national feed, will also air all of the Manchester City content, meaning a nationwide audience will have the possibility of watching the broadcast.
