Malaga CF Owner Abdullah Al-Thani To Leave The Club

June 6, 2014

Malaga owner Adbullah Al-Thani has announced via his Twitter account today that he will leave the La Liga side.

The sheikh, who took over the Andalusian outfit four years ago, expressed his frustration with local authorities, citing a lack of respect.

Al-Thani purchased the Spanish side in June 2010, and bankrolled big-money moves for the likes of Santi Cazorla, Joaquin, Martin Demichelis and Jeremy Toulalan and reached the Champions League quarter-finals under his ownership.

On Twitter, Sheikh Al-Thani said: “Just we want respect and appreciation and equality and credibility. Not only for me, for all the fans (of) Malaga. I’m sorry to say this, (but) yes I will go from here. Because I did not find the respect and appreciation and equality.”

The Club is still at an impasse over the sale of the stadium and building work on the training ground.
