Magic Marine to Title Sponsor Melges 24 European Championship

The International Melges 24 Class (IMCA) has announced that high performance sailing clothing specialist Magic Marine will be the title sponsor of the 2013 Magic Marine Melges 24 European Championship, to be held at Medemblik, Netherlands from 15-22 August.

In addition to the partnership with ISAF Connect To Sailing and the Dutch Sailing Federation, this new agreement extends Magic Marine’s support of sailing around the globe.

“The Melges 24 has always been on our radar as a beautiful class and boat with excellent organization,” commented MBrands President and CEO Max Blom Sr. “Magic Marine has specific products built for sportsboats and we want the chance to have these products seen. The fact that the European Championships are in the Netherlands for the first time due to the recent success locally, made the decision to sponsor this event a no brainer.”

Also supporting the event as Official Footwear Supplier will be Lizard Footwear. Other sponsors already confirmed for the 2013 Magic Marine Melges 24 European Championship include North Sails One Design, who will support the event as a Day Sponsor, and Supporting Sponsors De Pooter Olie, a Dutch owned fuel distribution company, and AEZ Leichtmetallräder, producer of high quality wheels for the motor industry.

Some 80 teams are expected to race in the championship which will be Europe’s biggest Melges 24 regatta of the season. 

The regatta will be based at the purpose built Regatta Centre Medemblik with racing managed by the Royal Yacht Club Hollandia and the IMCA’s Hank Stuart presiding as Principal Race Officer.  The regatta will run from 18 to 22 August.
