August 8, 2013

The leaders behind the Madrid 2020 Olympic Games have said they are ‘relaxed’ ahead of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) vote in September.

Yesterday marked the one-month-to-go landmark for the 125th IOC Session in Buenos Aires, anabolics where Madrid will find out if they are to host the 2020 Olympic Games.

“The most important thing is for us to be relaxed, pill ” said Madrid 2020 President, Alejandro Blanco. “We know this is a very tough match but we also know we have a great Bid.”

Blanco highlighted Barcelona’s successful hosting of the FINA World Championships as proof that Spain is capable of hosting events.

“Our country has once again demonstrated its superb organisational skills and the people of Spain have shown their passion for sporting events and their commitment to them,” Blanco commented.

Blanco added: “The entire Bid team is doing a fantastic job, one that the IOC has described as “extraordinary”, and in the run-up to September 7 we will be explaining the project again and looking for collaboration and support.

“All we can do in the countdown to the big day is to keep on working.  Madrid is ready to stage the Games. That is the big message our Bid has been able to get across.”

To mark the countdown to September 7, the City Council presented a scale model of the project (pictured) on display at the “CentroCentro” Gallery, inviting all the citizens to come and get a closer view of Madrid’s Olympic dream.
