March 23, 2016

The NBA has announced that Los Angeles has been chosen to host NBA All-Star 2018. The 67th All-Star game will be held at Staples Center, home of the L.A. Lakers and L.A. Clippers.

It will be making a record sixth appearance in Los Angeles after it previously hosted in 1963, 1972, 1983, 2004 and 2011. New York has staged it five times, with Boston and Philadelphia playing host four times each.

Staples Center was the venue for the 2004 and 2011 All-Star, with the Forum in Inglewood hosting in 1972 and 1983 and the Los Angeles Sports Arena in 1963.

NBA commissioner Adam Silver made the announcement at a press conference at Staples Center prior to the Lakers’ game against the Memphis Grizzlies.

“The city is home to some of the most passionate basketball fans in addition to extraordinary facilities, including Staples Center and L.A. Live.”

“Los Angeles is known for first-class hospitality and entertainment, making it the perfect host for NBA All-Star,”
