Los Angeles Council Approves Olympic Contract
January 26, 2017
The Los Angeles City Council has voted unanimously to approve the host city contract which would allow the city to host the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The backing of the council would allow the American city to host the games, should they be successful in their bid. They are competing against European capital cities Paris and Budapest for hosting rights.
The International Olympic Committe (IOC) will vote to elect the hosting city in September, when they convene in the Peruvian city of Lima.
The Los Angeles bid will make their final submission to the IOC on February 3, where they will offer financial assurances over their bid.
