London Welsh Signs Edward Coaches Partnership

October 1, 2014

London Welsh have secured a partnership with Edward Coaches.

Through the deal, clinic a number of supporters from South Wales will be transported to Kassam Stadium for matches.

Behind the new business partnership is Llantwit Fardre RFC mini rugby coach and managing director of Edwards Coaches, Jason Edwards who said: “There was massive interest in the local community here when London Welsh went up to the Aviva Premiership, but not just in London Welsh but in Justin for what he’s achieved over the past 12 months.”

“A lot of people contacted the company enquiring whether we would be doing trips to London Welsh’s home matches, so for every Sunday home game we have a coach leaving Edwards’ depot, which is a few hundred yards from Llantwit Fardre RFC, with pick-ups from Newport and Cardiff Gate Services.

“We’ve all been to watch local rugby and regional rugby, so to watch the Aviva Premiership is a refreshing change.”

Ties between London Welsh and the local community were strengthened by a visit of the players to Llantwit Fardre RFC the day after the Exiles’ pre-season friendly with Pontypridd.

Edwards continued: “Justin brought the players down on the Sunday morning to do a coaching clinic and it went down really well with the kids, and the parents are still talking about it. The boys from London Welsh were fantastic with the kids – they really enjoyed it – so there’s a lot of interest locally because of that and because of Justin.”

London Welsh head coach Justin Burnell, said: “It’s about showing people that London Welsh is genuinely representing Wales in the Aviva Premiership, and thanks to Edwards Coaches we’re able to put on a great service to enable people to come and support us at the Kassam Stadium.

“It’s about spreading the brand of London Welsh and further developing these relationships in Wales. Our visit to Llantwit Fardre RFC was a great example of that and now our link up with Europe’s biggest coach company, Edwards Coaches.”
