Ligue 1 side Marseille set for new ownership

The former owner of the LA Dodgers baseball team, Frank McCourt is set to buy Marseille.

The deal for the French Ligue 1 club is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

No fee has been disclosed for the deal,speaking at a news conference, McCourt said: “I’m very excited about making Marseille a champion again.”

The club’s owner, billionaire Margarita Louis-Dreyfus, said in April that she would put it up for sale following a string of poor results.
