Leyton Orient to Stay Put if Olympic Stadium Groundshare Fails
April 18, 2013
Leyton Orient will stay at Brisbane Road if their proposed Groundshare with West Ham at the Olympic Stadium falls through.
West Ham secured the Olympic Stadium in March, a result that angered Orient chairman Barry Hearn.
As a result of the move, reports have suggested that the O’s will move away from Leyton, however Hearn has said they will stay regardless of legal outcomes.
On top of this Hearn announced 1,500 free season tickets will be available to young people and students, in an effort to create a new generation of Orient fans.
Hearn said: “I’m proud to announce this initiative that I hope will be the dawning of a new era for this football club.
“Leyton Orient has been and always will be a real community club that continues to fight our corner despite being the underdog when you look at our neighbours and the threats we face.
“We will continue to fight the decision to deny us the opportunity to move to the Olympic Stadium, but we will fight it in our own backyard and will not be squeezed out.
“A free season ticket provides someone the chance to not only come down and stand up for their local club but also to most importantly watch some exciting football and develop a lifelong affiliation with the club.”
Any teenager between 14-18 or a student between 18-21 with a valid NUS card will be eligible for the scheme
