Chairman and Founder of Clipper Race joins iSportconnect Directors’ Club Panel

Sir Robin was the first man to sail single-handed, non-stop around the globe

iSportconnect announces venue partnership with Red Bull

iSportconnect is delighted to announce that the Chairman and Founder of the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race, the legendary Sir Robin Knox-Johnston, has joined the panel for the London Directors’ Club.

Sir Robin is one of the biggest names in sailing, after becoming the first man to perform a single-handed, non-stop circumnavigation of the globe in 1969.

He is now the Chairman of the Clipper Race, the only event of its type. Anyone, even if they have never stepped on a boat before, can join the adventure and circumnavigate the world in an eleven month-long marathon. This is the only race in the world where the organisers supply the fleet of twelve identical, 70-foot, stripped down racing yachts – each sponsored by a brand – and manned with a fully-qualified skipper, employed to lead the crews safely around the globe.

Speaking of Sir Robin’s inclusion on the iSportconnect Directors’ Club panel, Sree Varma, iSportconnect CEO said: “It is great news that a person of Sir Robin’s stature is joining the panel for the next Directors’ Club in London. He has great experience as a sportsman and a businessman, which will make for great debate. I am looking forward to hearing tales from the latest Clipper Round the World Yacht Race.”

Sir Robin Knox-Johnston added: “I’m looking forward to participating in the iSportconect Directors’ Club panel on 15 July. The essence of maintaining a good business is evolution, and by meeting and exchanging experience and views concerning the business of sport, we are able to keep abreast and pick up ideas that help us to continue to stay ahead of our game.”

Sir Robin joins the General Manager of the First Utility Rugby Super League, Blake Solly and Simon Bazalgette, the Group Chief Executive Officer at The Jockey Club for the event, with more panellists to be announced soon.

Red Bull Venue partnership

In other news, iSportconnect is pleased to confirm that the event will be held at Red Bull studios in London, after agreeing a partnership with the drinks giant. The offices are in a fantastic location near London Bridge and will provide a great space for the networking and panel discussions.
