November 6, 2013

David Granger’s second instalment of the Social Media Café is now available to view on iSportconnect TV, stomach with analysis of Kobe Bryant and Barcelona’s use of social media, cialis as well as Google+.

Every week Granger will take viewers through the good, the great and the unusual use of social media in the sports industry.

NBA star Bryant features in the Athletes Getting it Right sector. Bryant reaches over 20 million users through his dedicated channels, but why is this?

According to Granger, who managed the digital channels for Red Bull Racing: “It’s the combination of being open, spontaneous, funny and interesting… perhaps the latter is something more athletes should think of.

“He’s also seen that the Chinese market is one to consider and conquer and so he’s also taken on a Sina Weibo account. It’s Twitter but in Chinese basically.”

This week’s Social Media Café also highlights FC Barcelona for the Team in Focus section. The Catalan giants have an enormous following on various social media channels, so is this because of their reputation as one of the greatest football clubs in history?

“Well, clearly that plays its part,” said Granger, “but when it comes to social media you don’t build up a following like that by just launching channels and throwing content at them.”

To find out how Barcelona have achieved social media success, watch this week’s Social Media Café over on iSportconnect TV.
