Kell Brook to Defend Welterweight Title Against Errol Spence Jr
February 14, 2017
IBF World Welterweight champion Kell Brook is to defend his title against mandatory challenger Errol Spence Jr. The Sheffield-born boxer will fight in his hometown, with Sheffield United home ground Bramall Lane reportedly being considered a possible venue.
Brook has not fought since September, when he jumped two weight divisions to face Kazakh middleweight Gennady Golovkin. The Brit lost that bout; his first professional loss in his 37th fight.
British promoter Eddie Hearn announced on Twitter that terms between Brook and Spence Jr have been agreed, with Hearn describing Brook’s fight against the unbeaten American as the ‘best fight in the division’.
