Jean-Thierry Augustin Becomes Eurosport’s New CEO
April 30, 2013
Jean-Thierry Augustin has been appointed the new Chief Executive Officer of the Eurosport group following Laurent-Eric Le Lay departure to TF1 Publicité to become their CEO.
Also Philippe Denery has become the new Chairman. He will remain Executive Vice President of TF1 Group Finances.
Augustin has been promoted from his previous position of Managing Director, Distribution, Rights Acquisition & Development.
This organisational change is part of the TF1 group’s ambition to enable Eurosport to continue developing, particularly as part of the partnership agreements signed with Discovery Communications.
Jean-Thierry Augustin commented: “I’m delighted and proud to step in to the leadership role Laurent-Eric Le Lay has handed to me. We have enjoyed a successful working relationship for the past 12 years and I wish Laurent-Eric every success in his new role at TF1 Publicité. I will carry on with our development strategy to become the strongest sports media brand in Europe, strengthening our position in TV and in digital amongst others; even more so today within the context of our new partnership with Discovery.”
Late last year TF1 granted Discovery a 20% stake in Eurosport with an option to raise its interest to 51% in two years time.
