iSportconnect TV: Top 10 News Stories in Focus in the Final Weekly Round Up of 2013

December 20, 2013

With the New Year nearly upon us, the last Weekly Round Up of the year focused on the top sport business stories of the year chosen by iSportconnect members.

iSportconnect TV Editor Jay Stuart was joined by Lucien Boyer, CEO of Havas Sports & Entertainment and Michael Pirrie, Consultant of Good Relations who discussed topics ranging from FIFA’s predicament with Qatar and Brazil, IOC Elections and many more strong talking points.

After seeing the top 10 developments, which you can view in the video below, Pirrie said: “I think it is an incredibly diverse list and it takes in a lot of different sports from different parts of the world.”

Boyer added: “What is interesting is that people have also pointed out what is going wrong as well. It is unfortunately not a surprise that some of the big issues that sport faces are a concern for many people.”

New environments

When asked if they agreed that the biggest development of the year was the results of the 125th International Olympic Committee (IOC) session, Pirrie commented: “Yes I think so.  The new IOC President heralds a new era, with new ideas and already we are seeing new ideas implemented.

“Also some of the challenges that were bought up in that list, in terms of FIFA staging the World Cup, reflects that the world of sport is changing and we are now going out of the developed European and American cycle and we are letting it go into a new environment and we are seeing some challenges there.”
