iSportconnect stage engaging and insightful London Directors’ Club

March 17, 2016

iSportconnect staged one of its best ever Directors’ Club events in London on Wednesday evening at the offices of law firm Lewis Silkin.

The event proved to be extremely insightful, ampoule with a high level of engagement between the delegates and the panellists from start to finish.

This was facilitated by the expertise provided by the panel which featured sports promoter and Matchroom Sport managing director Eddie Hearn, Stoke City F.C., & Bet365 chairman Peter Coates and BBC director of sport Barbara Slater.

The attendees included representatives from major sports clubs/teams, governing bodies, federations and brands such as Tottenham Hotspur F.C., UEFA, Everton F.C., Team Sky, PGA Europe, Wembley Stadium, Force India F1, BBC, EY, Harlequins RFC, UK Sport, The FA, Discovery and many more.

The panel gave their views on some of the pressing issues currently in the sports industry such as what the impact of Britian’s potential departure from the E.U. could have on British sport.

This was followed by a lengthy discussion on the rise of OTT platforms in sport and how this is benefitting consumers. Barbara gave her thoughts on what impact this would have on broadcasters and how the BBC are adapting to the needs of the younger generation.

The following topic was centred on traditional sports featuring at the Olympic Games and if this had any value for them. Eddie Hearn provided his opinions on boxing at the Olympics and how professional boxers felt towards this.

The evening was ended with both the panellists and delegates sharing their views on the rise of China and its growing influence and power in sports, particularly in football after the recent influx of big-money signings in the Chinese Premier League.

Speaking after the event Barbara Slater said: “I really enjoyed the event and learnt a lot from it I was glad to be a part of it. The topics discussed and the manner in which they were discussed between us on the panel and the audience was great and I found it very engaging.”

Eddie Hearn added: “I thought it was a great event, it was really interactive which was the best aspect of it and I’m pleased to have been a part of it.”

This was the first of what is set to be a number of iSportconnect events this year. Our next event will be the Digital Strategy Masterclass on 13th April and the Sports Performance Masterclass on 26th April.
